Grass Growth
Average grass growth across GB has fallen slightly this week to 75.9kg DM/ha/day. However, regions such as the Northwest and North East are still averaging high growth rates, in excess of 80kg DM/ha/day. It is important to monitor growth rates regularly to allow for informed grazing decisions to get the most from grazed grass.
Milk Yield from Grazing (MYFG)
This week’s average MYFG for GB is M+13.3 litres/day, a slight decrease on last week’s figure thanks to a further decrease in potential DMI, as the NDF levels in grass have risen to 47.7% DM alongside a small drop in estimated ME. However, while the start of the season saw MYFG figures below those typically seen in previous years, the last two weeks have seen figures much closer to the 6-year average (M+12.7 litres/day for the same period).
