What is the NWF Training Academy?
At NWF Agriculture we believe that the highest level of advice, delivered in an applied and practical manner, is key to helping achieve a sustainable and profitable business for Britain’s farmers of the future.
To achieve this, we have created a detailed and specific training schedule designed to allow successful applicants to progress in their chosen areas of specialism.
Why should I apply for the NWF Academy?
Food production is becoming ever more critical to meet the growing demands of a global population increase. This requires the modern farmer to be efficient and profitable so they can continue to produce the highest quality food.
Achieving this requires inputs from specialists in the industry, the aim of this academy is to produce the highest level of ruminant advisors to assist Britain’s farmers in developing a sustainable, profitable future.
How do I get onto the Academy?
NWF Agriculture will hold recruitment days for interested applicants to attend.
Suitable applicants will be invited to an interview based on various individual qualities such as experience, industry type, personality and qualifications.
All successful applicants will complete a skills audit upon employment which will help determine specific training requirements.
What support will I get?
Each applicant will follow a program of modules which will be monitored by a program coordinator, as well as this, each applicant will work with a mentor who will be an established on-farm advisor within NWF.
Will there be an opportunity to progress?
Yes, depending on individual goals there are many opportunities for progression under a general structure.
What type of training will I receive?
Through a comprehensive network of specialist suppliers, both domestic and international, links with educational institutes and our own highly trained Technical support team, NWF has a wide resource of training capabilities.
Successful applications will receive a training schedule with modules tailored depending on their future ambitions.
General training modules will include:
- Ration formulation
- Animal nutrition and physiology
- Forage management
- Youngstock management
- Farm business costings
- Cow signals
- Product application
- Sales training
- IT tools
What will I get after the NWF Academy?
After the successful conclusion of each year through the academy individuals will receive a certificate and the opportunity to progress onto the next year. The full academy is a three-year schedule, however, this may take more or less time depending on the applicant’s experience and ability.
The main achievement will be the ability to conduct yourself on farm in a professional manner to help NWF Agriculture’s customer achieve their goals.
