Dairy cows need energy for lactation, reproduction, maintenance and growth. Shortages of energy lead to reduced milk yield and protein content, depressed fertility and excess weight loss.

 

The problems of energy deficit are most pronounced in the first 120 days of lactation when requirements are at a peak but supply is depressed due to restrictions on dry matter intakes.

 

One way to overcome the problems of energy deficit is to use protected fats to boost the energy density of the diet as they have 250% higher energy content than cereals and forages.

 

NWF Evolution is used to increase the energy density of the diet and has an energy content of 34Mj/kgDM. This product should be incorporated in TMR and home mix diets and fed to response. Dairy cows up to 500g/head/day, Beef cattle up to 300g/head/day, Sheep up to 200g/head/day. Packaging - 1.2 tonne pallets in 25kg bags.

 

Evolution Plus and Butterfat Extra are based on palm oil products rich in palmitic acid (C16 fat) which is particularly effective at increasing butterfat levels. NWF Evolution Plus and Butterfat Extra have an mE of 37Mj/kgDM.

This product should be mixed thoroughly in TMR or home mix diets and fed to response. The product is typically fed in the first 150 days of lactation to aid butterfat production. It is designed only to be fed to dairy cows and can be fed at up to 500 grams per day, depending on milk contracts.
